Dance
Curriculum Intent and Rationale
The aim of the KS3 Dance curriculum at TMS is to engage pupils with dance technical and interpretive skills in performance and choreography while promoting independence, confidence, and strong working relationships with others. We strive to create versatile dancers who appreciate different cultures. Pupils will have watched, analysed and practically explored a wide range of dance styles, professional dance works and stimuli.
The aim of the KS4 Dance curriculum at TMS is to learn to choreograph, perform and appreciate dance as an art form. The course will inform their development as creative and artistic individuals and broaden their aesthetic, social and cultural experience through a holistic engagement with dance. Pupils will develop physical, technical, mental and expressive skills and will be creative and imaginative in response to a range of stimuli using imagination, problem solving, personal management, creativity and the synthesis of ideas. We strive for pupils to develop an effective use of skills, processes and attitudes in the sector such as roles, responsibilities, performance disciplines and styles.
