Key Stage 4 ART

At the Mandeville School we believe that quality Art lessons will inspire children to think innovatively and develop creative knowledge and technical understanding.

Our Art curriculum provides students with opportunities to develop their skills in using a variety of materials and medias. Students learn the formal elements in art, line, tone, texture, shape, pattern and colour, Mandeville Artists draw on a long history from the world of Art, sculpture, textiles and architecture from the past to the present. In textiles we specialise in the culture and visual history of textiles, exploring fabrics and where they come from, how they have evolved through time.

Students who study art at Mandeville become critical thinkers and confident creative explorers. Our schemes of work allow students to think differently, open up and think beyond what we already know enabling them to problem solve and be creative and flourish into young artists.

Students are equipped with knowledge of how to be healthy, sustain positive relationships and maintain wellbeing so as to have the information needed to be able to make an effective contribution to society.

Enabling students to experience life to the full through a curriculum that inspires and enriches them with meaningful knowledge and cultural capital. High aspirations mean students study a broad range of subjects in Key Stage 3 and have a variety of routes through Key Stage 4 and 5 which are challenging and aspirational.
