Attendance

Good attendance is essential if students are to take full advantage of school and gain the appropriate skills, which will equip them for life. We aim to achieve good attendance by operating an attendance policy within which students, staff, parents and the Local Authority can work in partnership. The school will monitor attendance and ensure quick and early intervention if a problem has been identified.

Absent, Appointment or Running Late?

On those occasions when a student is unwell and unable to come to school, it is vital that parents/carers contact the school before 8.30am on the first day of absence.

Please ring the attendance line:  01844341440

Or contact us by email: attendance@mandeville.school

The Mandeville School is committed to working with parents/carers and students to ensure that high levels of attendance are achieved. Irregular attendance can:

  • Disrupt continuity of learning
  • Undermine educational progress
  • Lead to under achievement and low attainment
  • Lead to the involvement of the Local Authority
  • Lead to prosecution

Our Attendance Officer is Ms Amy Ditchburn and she can be contacted via attendance@mandeville.school

Term Time Holidays

Holidays in term time are not permitted and will not be authorised.

Punctuality

Punctuality is equally important both in terms of arriving at school and being on time for lessons. Lateness to school counts towards their attendance figure and could result in the above impact.

Students should be on site for registration for 8.28 a.m. Any students arriving after this time will be marked as late. Where clubs or other activities are being held before school, the gates will be opened earlier and a member of staff will register students as they arrive.

Signing in/Out

If you must leave school during the day for any reason, then email Ms Ditchburn at: attendance@mandeville.school

If special circumstances arise during the day that require you to go home, arrangements must be agreed with our Deputy Head of School, Mr Iddrisu:  sulemana.iddrisu@mandeville.school.

You must sign out at Reception and show your note from home, countersigned by staff. If you return to school later on the same day, then you must sign in again at Reception. Under no circumstances are you allowed to leave Mandeville school site without permission.
